Oooooo, that certainly sounds intriguing. Hey Dayspring you have 5 dragonballs now instead of four. Now you're equal to the other mods. ;D

Not mes.
That's cool. I should read scrolly things more often. Or maybe not.
You're sure that's an official title, and not a project title, like "Harry Potter and the Doomspell Tournament" (Book #4)?

You're sure that's an official title, and not a project title, like "Harry Potter and the Doomspell Tournament" (Book #4)? According to the scroly, J.K.Rowling announced it today. So let's all watch da news today to see if CNN botched it!

Now,Salem, you know I could never be friends with people if there was not atleast one Harry Potter fan. *smirks*
Yes, its an offcial title. Posted on the news, the news paper and J.K Rowlings site. The thing is, she also stated that "The Half Blood Prince is not Harry nor Voldemort" so it got me curious on who it is. I've come down to Dumbledore and Lupin cause they are important characters and we dont exactly know their status in that field. But I also think it could easily be a new character. I cant wait to read it!

I'd say it's a new person...

Yeah, im leaning towards that theory mostly.

With Dumbledore, I think we would have heard, or there would at least be less support for him (Not counting the events in Book #5). As for Lupin, I just doubt it.

I honestly dont really think Lupin is it either its just that Dumbledore sort of has a secretive past and its so much like J.K to take something that felt meaningless that she has written before and make it have to do with something important in a future book wich made me think it was him cause I think one of these days we are gonna know what Dumbledore really saw in that mirror. Unless it was really a pair of socks ;D
Other than him, its bound to be a new person.

As in, maybe he is and nobody else knows it? He doesn't seem like the princely type, though...
Ooh, I know! Dumbledore has a child with a muggle, such as a nurse or someone at Hogwarts, and there you go. ^^

Well, I figured he could easily be a royal but doesent want anybody to know. Like, maybe he got kicked out of the royal family for caring for other creatures other than his own kind or he loved teaching but then im going too far with my imagination so I would think its a new character or she's really gonna surprise us.

She likes to surprise I've noticed from her other books; there are some things that you don't expect. That's what I would be betting on.

Or maybe it's Ron? ...... Though yeah, it's most likely someone new, but it's possible that it's not, Rowling likes to through out the twists.

The annoying thing is, I spent most of my thoughts during book 5 just wondering what the quote on the back was about... I'm not going to spend the whole book in anticipation just trying to find out who the half-blood prince is, assuming they actually wait until the end of the book...

Has it occured to anyone here that it could be Snape? His past is pretty unknown, but little glimpses of it were given in the fifth book with Harry and the pensieve. Rowling could be building up to something there by letting us learn a little more about Snape in that scene.

I can't even remember if I've read the fifth book. I know I've got at least 4 of them... I think I picked up the fifth at Wal Mart shortly after it came out but I'm not sure. Still, I think the idea of Snape works pretty well. Sounds like something Rowling would do too. Like I said, she loves the twists.

Exactly. And remember how too during that pensieve scene, Harry learned that his father, who he had always looked up to, acted a lot like Malfoy when he was at Hogwarts and harassed Snape in the same way Harry is harassed. I thought that was really a interesting ironic twist when I first read it.

I thought they've gone over Snape's stance on half-bloods and his family tree before. Maybe not.

But maybe that's why he doesn't like halfbloods. He might be one himself and maybe bad things happened in his past that have made him loathe his heritage? Let's not forget that Voldemort,(yes I said the name! ), who many purebloods follow and believe will cleanse the magic world is a halfblood himself.
