I know I'm not the only one here who likes Japanese music, so I thought I might as well. ;D Favorite artist? Favorite song? Favorite Engrisshy band name? And now, to spark the eternal debate - JRock or JPop? (which, in hindsight, is sort of like asking Pepsi or Coke, M&Ms or Smarties, Clay or Ruben... ) Personally, my favorite artist and song are Gackt -- anyone who dresses up like a Japanese schoolgirl just for his Dears is definitely worth loving -- and his Vanilla, and my favorite band name... ...... ...well, you just can't beat Sons Of All Pussys.

Gah. I don't follow enough. I guess JRock would be whoever sang Information High in Macross Plus. JPop would be Gundam songs galore.
Since I seem to have only JPop favs out of the two genres (I think), I'll say I prefer JPop.
And I don't know if Information High is Engrish or JRock. ;D

I would say that it's more JRock. But then again, it was composed byy Yoko Kanno, how can you categorize her stuff?

I'm not a big fan of PuffyAmiYumi myself, they're alright. I do love the Teens Titans theme song they perform though.

The only japanese songs I know are DBZ ones and some from other animes( a few Inuyasha, Gundam Wing, and Ruroni Kenshin). But I like Piccolo-San Daisuki best and Kageyama Hironobu is my favorite singer. ;D

Right now, Asian Kung-Fu Generation is my favorite J-Rock band, but I'm just now discovering Gackt. Some of his stuff is really cool, but I don't like all of his songs. It's weird, with him.

Ya I looooove Asian Kung Fu Generation! And Gackt's music is like that, all of his songs are really different from one another. Zacko, you may want to give L'Arc en Ciel a listen, I think you'd like a lot of their music, it's a little more consistent, they're one of my favourites. Other bands I recommend checking out: Pierrot, Fake?, X Japan, Janne D'Arc, Globe, Judy and Mary, The Pillows, Porno Graffiti, Hitomi. For J-pop: No one's a good as Maaya Sakamoto and Hikaru Utada in my opinion, but other ones I highly recommend are: Akino Arai, KOKIA, Bonnie Pink, W-inds, Shiina Ringo, Dream, T.M. Revolution, Susumu Hirasawa Those would be my recommendations anyway. And Mochi, those animes all have great music, especially DBZ, so you have good taste! ^_^ And Hironobu Kageyama is right up there for me too.

The only "JRock" I listen to is some Asian Kung-Fu Generation and Bump of Chicken (with a little L`arc en Ciel; mostly some newer stuff... "Stay Away" was fuckin' awesome).
My favorite song is Bump of Chicken's "Sailing Day" (from the 4th One Piece movie, actually ^^).

I know Pierrot and X Japan. Good stuff. I'll especially look for L'Arc en Ciel, as well as any of those other bands you mentioned, like Bump of Chicken. I don't think I'll look for much more Gackt though... I hate going through songs from an inconsistent band to find what I like and don't like. Not that being completely consistent is a good thing either...
Woo! JRock!

Hmm? Two-Mix did that Gundam stuff, right? At one point, I loved White Reflection. Gackt songs I've found and liked: Lu:na, Death Wish, Mizerable. Hyde songs I've found and liked: Hello (It's the only one I've got) I'm trying to find Stay Away right now... no luck. Found more of their songs, and Asian Kung-Fu Generation still rocks.

Oh? What are you implying? That it's a good thing that Two-Mix rocks hard. Otherwise the Gundam tracklist for like 8 shows would suck.
