I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me this, but how do you say the word "dragon" in Japanese or Chinese?

I thought that Ryu in Japanese meant fighting styles? Like in Ninjutsu we had Fire, Water, Wind, and so forth...

Nope. Ryu means dragon. And Ryuken means "Dragon Fist". So answering spirit: maybe. Right there we know Ryu's name to mean Dragon and Ken's to mean Fist. EDIT: Balrog is the Balrog from LOTR, Guile is english; to have guile is to have a nerv/guts... maybe the really all do.  |

Actually in Japan, Bison is called Vega, Vega is Balrog, and Balrog is Bison. The pun behind it was it was alluding that the M in M. Bison stood for Mike suggesting that he was the boxer Mike in the first Street Fighter and to copy off a certain boxer whose last name rhymes with bison (I don't need to explain that). Capcom USA thought it sounded corny so they switched the manes around.

Which is stupid since Vega(US) CLEARLY resembles the Balrog (for which he is named after) what with his claw and such.

You know before you mentioned it, I never really connected Lord of the Rings' Balrog with SF. I prefer the name for the boxer. Besides alluding to his name being "Mike Bison" sounds really corny.
