DBZ Movie Poem Contest! (NOW OVER)

Want to win a set of Pioneer (now the ill-fated Geneon)'s uncut releases of the first three DBZ movies? You know, the ones with the damn near perfect dubs with the Japanese music and Ocean Group voice cast?



Then participate in my Poem Contest!

It's very simple:

Write three poems, one for each movie. That's it! The best set of poems wins the prize, and I may have a consolation prize. As some examples, you could write the first about drunk Gohan, the second about your crush on Dr. Cochin, and the third about Tullece's shoes. Whatever you want, as long as it's related to each movie!

There are no length or format restrictions, but I encourage a reasonable length, like maybe doing haikus in at least two verses per movie.

Contest ends November 22nd! You can post your entries right here in this thread, or you can PM me if you don't want to post them publicly during the contest. (I will want to post the winning entry after the end, though.)

I thought the 29th was Thanksgiving, so I didn't realize this was ending on a holiday, hence my delay on going through the entries and such.

But anyway, the winner is AnonymousBeing, and here are his great poems:

POEM 1

I lost my hat in that strange place
Far from my family.
Where lesser men despair this boy
Did grow very hungry.

Fortune blessed me with an apple
To appease my tummy.
With hunger gone, I wonder now
Why the world looks funny...

Dinos, dinos, everywhere.
They're dancing just for me.
Dinos, dinos, everywhere,
And now I have to pee.


POEM 2:

I have a big, black fortress,
It burst out of the ice
When Cochin wished me revived
Because he is so nice!

I have three loyal fighters,
Part bio and part tech.
If you think that’s impressive,
Then you should see my mech!

I have a wicked robot;
I work it with my brain.
Now give the world’s strongest
So I can live again!


POEM 3:

There's some space pirates out land surveying
For their fruit trees of massive life draining.
They choose Earth, you see,
And there plant a tree.
Now the planet's in need of some saving.

So many heroes confront this great doom,
But defeat after defeat seems to loom:
Gohan’s an ape brute,
Tullece ate his fruit,
Is planet Earth fated now to go boom?

There’s a Saiyan who denies his own race
Because they once destroyed worlds out in space.
But when there’s danger,
Goku’s no stranger
To putting the villains back in their place.

Hi all. I've never posted here before but I wanted to follow up on my poems because I was kinda surprised to win when I knew that I could've done better. Since November is National Novel Writing Month (nanowrimo.org for more info), all my time and creative juices were channeled there. To that end I've got to thank TripleRach for not just having this contest, but also for pushing back the deadline. Otherwise I wouldn't have had the time I needed to come up with poem ideas and let them ferment into the forms they've got now.

With Nanowrimo finally over, I'm interested in what everyone else wrote if anyone's up to sharing their poems. I'm even curious as to what anyone else would've written for this contest had they wanted the prize. Maybe it's just the English major in me, but I think it might be fun to compare and contrast different styles and choices of content, perhaps even delve into what inspired each poem, and overall just geek out on how to combine poetry with DBZ.
