Yeah, I got bored. So a made some buttons. ;D I still have a few more to make so that they all match, but I thought I'd put up what I've got so far.

w00t! Just finished up with the last of them! At least, for on the top of the page. I may get around to some other ones too, reply button, some of the icons, etc... but that probably wont be for a little while.

The only ones you'll get that are 'new' are the home and help buttons. Everything else is already Saiya-jin.  Damnation! I hadn't realized they were almost ALL Saiya-jin... I forgot Piccolo!  Oh well, maybe in an icon or something later on... |

I meant mostly in Saiyan apparel (hence the Bardock Special referrence).
Though I will definitely stea-er-borrow the search, members and calendar buttons. ;D

You do know all those buttons were made in MS Pain(t) and that it's a really simple and easy process to make them, right? I mean, you could make your own set in less than an hour.  |

I don't know what's wrong with my MS Paint but I can't move pics, add text to them without removing the pic first, etc. My whole computer sucks. |

The text thing is probably cause you're not making the text BG transparent. Don't know about the other problem though. And I didn't add the text up there either. Those words are all from the original buttons. ;D

Tutorial: One: I suggest you save copies of the original buttons (keep them in .gif format) on to your HD. This is so you can copy and paste the words from these buttons onto your own buttons, this looks nicer than using the text tool. Two: Resizing an image in MS Pain(t) is a bad idea. However, you do need to set the final output size by going up to image and clicking on attributes. My buttons save for Help, Calendar, and Notify are 73 x 30 pxls. The help button is 60 x 30, Calendar is 80 x 30 and Notify is 100 x 30. Three: Resizing, for this I recommend going to www.downloads.com and getting a copy of Image Enhance. It's a free program with a lot of nice features and a resizer that knows how to estimate when downsizing and do pseudo interpolation for upsizing. Use this for any resizing needs. You don't need to save the resized image, simply go up to edit and select copy. Now simply paste this into MS Pain(t). Four: Alright, you've got your image in MS Pain(t). (If you didn't resize in Image Enhance then go up to edit in MS Pain(t) and select 'Paste From' then select your file, this way you can move the image.) Also note that when you get the notice that 'image is larger than bitmap, resize bitmap?' you need to select NO. Now just position the image the way you want it. Five: Once the image is set up go up to file > Save As. You want to save this as a .bmp for now. My suggestion is to make all the BG's for the buttons first, then worry about the text. So, what you're saving is just your button image as a .bmp file. You should probably save it using the file name of the button it will be so you can remember. Six: Alright, the BGs for the buttons are saved. Now pick one to work on and open it's GIF counterpart (the original button you saved from the board). You want to select the text on this button and then copy it. Now open up the .bmp that the text is for. Now, before pasting, go up to image and make sure the option saying 'Draw Opaque' is NOT checked, now you paste it in. Seven: Transparencies. The white text should not be visible now. However, that's the wrong way. What you need is the eyedropper tool. Select it and then go over the color OUTSIDE the text. (Not the border to the text, the excess color) and right click it. Now go to edit and click undo (or use crtl+z). Now paste the image AGAIN and all you should be able to see is the text and the border. Put it where you want it. NOTE: Some of the .gif buttons have white backgrounds, in this case it only takes one pasting. Move the black outline of the letters where you want them and then use the smallest setting on the paintbrush tool and fill in the out-line pxl by pxl. Eight: Now that the txt is in place you may want to change it's color. This is easy as the outline and text should be solid colors. All you need is the fill tool and you can do this in just a few clicks. Easiest step of them all. Once that’s done go up to file > save as and save it as a .jpg this time. That button is finished. Nine: Repeat these steps until all the buttons are done. Remember, there are two buttons you can't see while logged in. Login and Register. Don't forget to do them as well. |
