In a dim apartment in Hokkaido, Japan, a woman walked in through the door and took off her jacket with her nametag, throwing it precariously on her desk. She passed her computer, poking the mouse to take off the Tail Concerto screensaver she had up as she went to get a bottle of water. Pulling up the Altimit log-in screen, she typed in her information.
User: Helba
Password: *******
She smirked and clicked OK. This had been her ritual for the past several years. Ever since she first logged in, she had gained the reputation of an incredible hacker. So many times, CC Corp. and Altimit had deemed her a threat and tried to delete her.
The woman reached next to her monitor and picked up a headset as she clicked on the icon for The World, and smiled with satisfaction. So many attempts, and just as many failures. Abandoning the bottle and picking up a controller resembling that of the ancient Playstation 2 system, she clicked LOG-IN.
In The World, she was invincible.
