Would you guys say you prefer to read a manga before seeing an anime version of it or the other way around? For me the pros of seeing the manga first is you don't have the idea of the characters' voices influenced by the show.

Manga here. I even considered myself to be a bit of a purist until I saw the Naruto anime.

Manga first. The only real pros of the anime won't disappear if you wait.

With me I'm glad the Shaman King manga debuted here first. I still read with Manta's voice being kind of the type that freaks out a lot, and Anna's voice like Mandy's form the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.

I prefer to read the manga first, but that usually never happens for some reason.

Definitely manga first. You usually get parts left out of the anime a lot and manga in general is just in more detail.

Well, I've not seen any Manga at all yet. But I'd say I'd prefer the Anime first. I like knowing how characters sound. It makes it easier on my poor overworked brain to have a voice to match to words so that it doesn't have to try and figure them out. Usually that leaves all the voices to something sounding the same in my head.

I like having anime first if I can. It gives me voices to match to the words, like Xyex said, instead of me iving them voices myself. I was way off on Naruto.

The thing with me reading a manga after seeing the series is I sometimes have a hard time picturing different voices. I have tried many times to read Frieza's dialogue with him having a Tim Curry-esque evil British accent.
